Yet no one dared to speak anything objectionable before Vṛndāvana dāsa Ṭhākura, who by the mercy of Nityānanda Prabhu, fearlessly explained in his writings how in Kali-yuga, demons take birth among brāhmaṇa families to raise objections and present counter-arguments. It was quite extraordinary to be so bold in those days. Beyond contributing through his writings, he fearlessly propagated the unadulterated scriptural doctrines.
Knowing Rāmānanda Rāya to be a Vaiṣṇava, Sārvabhauma Bhattacharya considered him a mere sentimentalist and did not hold him in high regard. He used to dislike him. Sārvabhauma couldn’t gauge the glory of Rāmānanda Raya, until Mahāprabhu bestowed His mercy upon him. But by the mercy of Mahāprabhu, Sārvabhauma eventually turned to Vaiṣṇavism and understood the glories of Vaiṣṇavas. When Mahāprabhu was setting out on a tour of South India to spread His mercy under the pretext of searching for His brother, Viśvarūpa, Sārvabhauma said, “When You visit South India, there is only one person wo...
Prior to joining the maṭha full-time, Śrīla Gosvāmī Mahārāja (then known as Śrī Atulacandra Bandopādhyāya) worked for Indian Railways, which provided him with a stable residence. Śrīla Bhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī Ṭhākura Prabhupāda once visited and stayed there for three days in 1921. As a result of his divine association during that three-day visit, Śrī Atulacandra Bandopādhyāya decided to dedicate his life to serving the lotus feet of Śrīla Prabhupāda. Following the principle of the verse gurum evābhigacchet from Muṇḍaka Upaniṣad (1.2.12), He understood that upon approaching śrī guru, o...
Tridaṇḍi-svāmī Śrīmad Bhakti Sāraṅga Gosvāmī Mahārāja, was one of the foremost pillars of Śrī Śrīmad Bhakti Siddhānta Sarasvatī Gosvāmī Prabhupāda’s preaching mission, which aimed to spread the message of Śrī Caitanya Mahaprabhu to the entire world. Thus, he fulfilled his beloved śrī gurupāda-padma’s most cherished desire.
How is it possible? The same Lord, who walked to give milk to Mādhavendra Purīpāda and spoke directly with him, is now requesting assistance, demonstrating complete helplessness. The Lord who knows everyone’s heart, the cause of all causes, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, is suddenly unable to stand without support in His deity form! For the pleasure of His devotees, the Lord performs His pastimes as a Deity – devoid of independence and requiring assistance.
Mādhavendra Purīpāda performed annakūṭa for Gopāla daily for two years with the help of the nearby villagers but he did not a...
Today is a very special day for it includes so many auspicious tithis. It is the appearance day of Śrī Rādhā-ramaṇa Deva, Śrīla Śrīnivāsa Ācārya and the disappearance day of Śrīla Parameśvarī Ṭhākura. Today Kṛṣṇa also enjoys in a pond on a flower boat; this occasion is called Śrī Kṛṣṇa’s Phula-ḍola Vihāra. It is also Buddha Pūrṇimā.
We must definitely honor the appearance and disappearance days of Vaiṣṇavas. This is because their remembrance is the treasure of our life and their forgetfulness is our misfortune. Thus in whatever way we remember them, we will meet with auspiciousness.
The ṣaḍ-gosvāmy-aṣṭakam was composed by Śrīnivāsa Ācārya. He has brilliantly described the life history of the Gosvāmīs in this aṣṭakam, describing how they spent their days and so on. Kṛṣṇotkīrtana-gāna-nartana-parau premāmṛtāmbho-nidhī…[I offer my respectful obeisances unto the six Gosvāmīs, namely Śrī Rūpa Gosvāmī, Śrī Sanātana Gosvāmī, Śrī Raghunātha Bhaṭṭa Gosvāmī, Śrī Raghunātha dāsa Gosvāmī, Śrī Jīva Gosvāmī, and Śrī Gopāla Bhaṭṭa Gosvāmī, who are always engaged in chanting the holy name of Kṛṣṇa and dancing.]
Prahlāda did not plead for protection from Bhagavān; nonetheless, could Hiraṇyakaśipu cause any harm to Prahlāda? Hiraṇyakaśipu meted out all types of atrocities to kill Prahlāda – like attempting to, administer him poison, bury him underground, burn him alive, sink him in the ocean by tying a stone around his neck and so on. For a long time, Bhagavān was protecting him incognito. He did not manifest Himself directly. When nothing seemed to work, Hiraṇyakaśipu thought, ‘Now I shall have to kill him myself, as nobody else is able to accomplish this task.’
