My Inconceivable Good Fortune

I repeatedly offer my most humble and respectful obeisances at the lotus feet of my beloved Sri Gurudeva, Srila Bhakti Vigyan Bharati Goswami Maharaja, who opened my darkened eyes with the torchlight of knowledge.

Being most merciful and kind to the poor and destitute, my spiritual master accepted this unqualified person under the shelter of his lotus feet. I adore those lotus feet and I pray to become a worthy and pleasing disciple.

On this most auspicious day of Sri Vyasa Puja, I beg to offer glorification of Srila Gurudeva, Srila Bhakti Vigyan Bharati Goswami Maharaja in the words of Sri Krsna Himself in Bhagavad Gita:

"One who is not envious, but is a kind friend to all living entities, who does not think himself a proprietor, who is free from false ego and equal both in happiness and distress, who is always satisfied and engaged in devotional service with determination, his mind and intelligence fixed in Me, such a devotee is very dear to Me.

He for whom no one is put into difficulty and who is not disturbed by anyone, who is steady in happiness and distress, is very dear to Me.

A devotee who is not dependent on the ordinary course of activities, who is pure, expert, without cares, free from all pains, and who does not strive for some result, is very dear to Me.

One who neither rejoices nor grieves, who neither laments nor desires, and who renounces both auspicious and inauspicious things, is very dear to Me.

One who is equal to friends and enemies, who is equal in honour and dishonour, heat and cold, happiness and distress, fame and infamy, who is always free from contamination, always silent and satisfied with anything, who doesn't care for any residence, who is fixed in knowledge and engaged in devotional service, is very dear to Me.

He who follows this imperishable path of devotional service and who completely engages himself with faith, making Me the supreme goal, is very, very dear to Me."

Srila Gurudeva, your divine qualities are deeper than the ocean and sweeter than honey. Who can adequately describe them? You appeared in my life as brilliant as the rising sun, destroying all my misfortune and illuminating brightly the path of Bhakti.

Now that you have disappeared from our external vision, we can no longer touch your lotus feet or receive Prasadam from your lotus hand....And yet you are always with us, closer than we can understand.

I know that in order to again have your most merciful darshan, I must sincerely cry and I must submit whole-heartedly to your instructions; not partially or conditionally....but with full surrender.

Srila Gurudeva, I do not know by which inconceivable good fortune I have come under the shelter of your lotus feet. A spiritual master of your caliber and magnitude, a very topmost Vaisnava is very, very rare in this world; I feel most unworthy.

......But, knowing that your compassion and love are unconditional, I have a great hope that one day, by your mercy, I may be able to properly serve and please you.

Your insignificant servant,
